Two serving Senators representing Ondo Central and Ondo South Senatorial Districts, have lost their bid to clinch the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) tickets in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
The Senators; Ayo Akinyelure, representing Ondo Central Senatorial District, and Nicholas Tofowomo, Ondo South, lost the party’s tickets to return to the Red Chambers of the National Assembly, at the primaries held in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Monday.
Senator Ayo Akinyelure, popularly known as “Allover”, got fifty eight (58) votes when the result of the votes cast by delegates were announced, thereby losing the Central Senatorial ticket as the Party’s candidate ahead of 2023 general election to Mr Ifedayo Adedipe, SAN, who polled eighty two votes (82).
Also, the PDP Senator representing Ondo South, Nicholas Tofowomo was not lucky during the primaries, as he lost his return ticket to the former Ondo State Deputy Governor, Hon Agboola Ajayi.
Ajayi got seventy eight (78) votes from delegates, to beat the incumbent, Tofowomo, who polled seventy four (74) votes.
