Conduct adequate training, re-training to enhance prosecution process, Ondo CJ charged NSCDC boss

The Chief Judge of Ondo State, Hon. Justice O. O Akeredolu has charged the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,NSCDC on the need to carry out intensive and continuous training and re-training Course for Investigating Officers of the Corps.

She gave the charge during the Courtesy call of the new State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State Command to the Hon. Chief Judge of Ondo State.

The Chief Judge said most people have a great confidence in the unrelenting and uncompromising method by which the NSCDC Ondo Command handles emerging cases and complaints overtime; therefore training and re-training Course should be organized for Investigating Officers to enhance their capacity for equitable Service delivery.

In her words, Hon. Justice Akeredolu said: ” the importance of thorough investigation is a pre-requisite to any process of prosecution; leaving no stone unturned, the officers need to be well acquainted with the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) which would consequently make the Investigators well seasoned, I mean specifically trained, solely devoted and properly refined Investigators”.

Hon. Justice Akeredolu further reiterated on the need for proper enlightenment not only for students or Communities but parents and the electorates in general who ought to learn the rules of contentment and exercise of their voting rights under a violent-free election process. She said, there are no justifiable reasons to engage in crime as many capitalized on the overwhelming rate of Inflation and exorbitant cost of living thereby engaging in Internet fraud, Rape and Sexual Violence, involvement in voodoo to get more congregation by some religious leaders amongst others.


The Honourable Chief Judge however enjoined the Ondo NSCDC Helmsman to strengthen the existing collaborations with the Nigeria Police, the Nigeria Correctional Service and other Sister Agencies inorder to combat crimes in the State; affirming that this will also build the confidence of the people and create an atmosphere for robust relationship without competition.

The Ondo NSCDC Boss relayed that the Command under his leadership has mapped out Strategies to sensitize and re-orientate the civil populace on how to identify possible threats that could lead to insecurity.

Commandant Hammed Abodunrin said, it is high time the general public understood the strategies and tactics of insecurity in their respective environment as this would in turn enhance their confidence in the Security Agencies thereby enabling the provision of credible Intelligence and information that would assist in curbing crimes.
